Apart from the intention of yielding pleasure at the moment no especial thought, perhaps, has been given to the actual task of story-making. Yet the work may become more delightful if we give some consideration to those things which will help us to grow in the art. Our chief qualification as makers of stories will lie in a first-hand interest in life and living persons in the different spheres of activity, in the ancient human relationships and occupations.
